A Friendship Blog Hop for Lisa.

It's  been a while since I last blogged and with summer flying past it's coming into my favourite time of the year.
Time to restart blogging again and what is a better way than a Blog hop.
 But it's not any old blog hop ;
Our dear friend and brilliant crafter Lisa Tyrrell has suffered ill health over the summer and is still in hospital so this is a Friendship Blog hop for her.
I'm very excited as it is my first one. Maureen Scott ( No 1 on the list) organised this group of friends, Mad Crafters and Gigglers into an orderly lot and you can find them all below. You can visit us all or whomever you like but you have to visit Lisa's Blog and leave some love in a comment for her.
I made a simple card using distress inks and stamps.

Here is the list of the blogs that are participating, you are at Kay Roche now so if you want to start at the beginning hop on over to Maureen ......
Thank you all for taking the time to leave comments and cheering up Lisa.
 Have a wonderful day.
Kay xx

June Card for the Just For Fun Challenge.

Hi Everyone,
It’s the first of the month again and time for a new challenge at the Just For Fun challenge Blog.
This month the theme is 'Here comes Summer'. Lots of things come to mind for summer and for me the peace and tranquility of warm sunny days with blue skys, green countryside and gardens full of flowers that bring back lots of memories.
So with that in mind I created this card....

On the base card (A4 folded in half) I used blue, antique linen and green distress inks to create a  soft background and I stamped some foliage over the green .
I cut an oval aperture in a piece of card slightly smaller than the base card to coincide with the background colouring. I thought it needed a little something so I drew some birds in the sky. I mounted the top card onto the card with foam pads.
I then added flowers from stash and used a Joy die cut for the swirly foliage .
I added some fancy peel offs for the corners to tie it all together.
I hope you like it and you get some inspiration too.
Pop over to the Just for Fun Challenge Blog and have a look at the other Design Team makes for some lovely Summer Fun cards.
From the 1st July we will be "Anything Goes" for every challenge.
Have Fun, Hugs,
Kay. xx

May Christmas Fun card

Hello everyone and welcome to the summer.
The year is flying by and hopefully we will get a lovely summer to enjoy.
Now I'll talk about the end of the year and that 'C' word that comes around on the 25th of December. Yes - Christmas and all that it entails.
I'm way ahead with my cards this year thanks to the Christmas Fun Challenge Blog and all the cards I have made each month.

This Months theme is All that Glitters or Anything goes. So as always you have a choice.
This is the lovely prize this month just for joining in.
Only one prize tho' so you may be lucky and win it.

Here is my card for inspiration.
I did anything goes and it does have a bit of sparkle under the lacework but it was hard to catch it with the camera.
The die is one by Sue Wilson called Lattice Heart made by Creative Expressions.
And the decoupage is from Craft Creations.

Here is a close up of the decoupage... all handcut.

I hope you have got some inspiration from this card
and I wish you
Happy Crafting.

Love and best wishes,
Kay

A Box for me.

Hi all,
Just a short post today. I was playing with some boxes and came up with this one. It will have notelets in it and is a present for a friend of mine.

I made the box from white card and decorated it with a red card with gold embossing on it.
The fastener is covered by a gold button and a red card candi in the centre
As it has an oriental look I decided to enter it in this challenge.

Best Wishes,

April Just for Fun Challenge Card

Good morning everyone,
It looks like spring is here with the daffodils in full bloom and Easter just around the corner. And the temperature is definitely a bit warmer.  The sun is struggling to part the clouds and shine as I write.
This months word at the Just for Fun Challenge is EASTER and can be found HERE.

I took my cue from the daffodils and decided to draw some. In the end one splendid daffodil made it to the card and as it was for a friend I put this sentiment on it.

Here is my hand drawn daffodil. It is coloured with Pro Markers. The Spellbinders die behind Is coloured with distress inks.

So hop on over to the Just for Fun Challenge Blog and enter your Easter card.
You will find lots of inspiration from the Design Team and from the other entrants.
I'm entering this in the following challenges
I hope you all have a Happy Easter and a wonderful Spring.
Hugs,

Christmas Fun DT card for April

Hi Everybody,
Isn't the year flying. Here we are into April with Easter in a couple of weeks, the Summer not far off and I'm making Christmas cards. This is because I'm in the Christmas Fun Challenge group HERE

The challenge for this month is a card for a man or Anything goes. Its up to you what you make.
This month I made a simple card that could be used for a man or woman. I folded an A4 card in half and folded back the front to the left. The topper is from Kanban and the die cut is a Spellbinders Adorning squares die.
I love snowmen and this one is so cute.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland.

Here is the inside, I over did the the foam pads so had to put an image on the inside of the topper to cover them up.  It finishes it off.

Lots of sparkle too.

I'm entering this card in these challenges,

I'm making more of these so I'll have a good few cards for Christmas and you can use this idea for any type of card.
Have fun playing along

Wednesday, 19 March 2014

Hi everyone,
it's mid month inspiration over at the Just for Fun challenge and I had great fun making my card for it. You will find the challenge HERE.
I seen this shape on Create and Craft and it caught my eye so I went and tried to make it myself. Anyone who knows me know that I love a challenge and I love playing when maths comes into the equation.

So I took a piece of A4 card and folded it in half, then measured 3.8cm /1.5" in from each corner and took the corner off at the diagonal. It's a very pleasing shape
Then I matted and layered the gold mirri card and patterned paper. The paper was only 6" sq so I inserted a contrasting piece to make it wider. The topper is from Hunkydory and I cut and assembled the flowers by hand with a tiny bought flower for the center. I cut the leaf shapes from patterned paper.

I love how it turned out and encourage you to try making some flowers yourself and also try the card shape. Try it on some copy paper to start with.

Have fun and I love to read your comments.

Christmas Fun Challenge March

Hi Everyone,
It's March already, time is flying by. My daughter told me how many weeks of school is left until the Easter hols and then how many until the Summer hols and reduced to weeks its frightening how short it seems.
But to make it better I am well ahead with my Christmas cards. What? Do I hear you groan when I mention Christmas,,,,,,don't worry its still a way to go until December but it's fun to make Christmas cards at this time of the year.

These cards were made for the Christmas Fun Challenge which can be found   ~ HERE ~

                                                     Christmas Fun Challenge Blog

The first one is following the original theme of Bauble and Bows and we are also introducing Anything goes so you can make either.

This one below is for Anything Goes but I just realised it also has some baubles.....designed that way of course :-)
It is a center stepper card and I will do a tutorial later on in the month of how I make them and on changing their size. There are plenty of tutorials around the web if you want to look it up now.

Love is in the air at the Just For Fun Challenge Blog

Good morning from a cold and battered Ireland.
We fortunately didn't suffer too much damage and my heart goes out to all my friends in Ireland and the UK who have been washed out of it, and hope there wasn't too much damage sustained.

Well February is the month of love and here is my card for the Design Team over at the Just For Fun Challenge .
This months challenge is 'Love' and I decided to do do hearts. It is a simple card with an embossed card in the background and a punched lace border in black card on the top and the bottom of the red card.

I cut the hearts from the same red card and edged them in black stickles, If you haven't black stickles then edge them with ink or matt and layer them with black card. It just enhances the shape.
Then I mounted them with foam pads on the white die cut shape.
I added the bow and little red roses (for valentines) and the black pearls to finish it off.
I hope you inspires you to join in the fun at the challenge and there is a prize this month too. Scroll down all the DT samples and you will find the Link to put up your card.

Have fun and happy day to you,
Kay XX

Second Christmas Fun DT Card

Well 'hello' to everyone from a wild, wet and windy SE Ireland.
It's perfect crafting weather.
Today I have my second Design Team card for the Christmas Fun Challenge Blog.

It's great making Christmas cards during the year as there is no pressure to get them all done.
The challenge this time is Cute Christmas. Use a cute image on your card.
When I looked through my Christmas stash the Forever friends cuties popped out at me and that's what I used.
I matted and layered gold and patterned paper to match on an A5 card. Then I added some punched 'paper lace', ribbon and a decorative circle. I then mounted the 'cute' topper with foam pads onto the circle. Some peel offs and a sentiment to finish it off.

Just For Fun DT Card.

Hi everyone,
Would you believe I have blogged two days in a row!  I know but here I am.

This is my second Design Team post for the  Just for Fun Challenge.  The theme for January is 'New' so I choose 'New Beginning'.  When I started to put the card together I had no idea where to start so when I came across this Kanban stamp from Aspire Crafts  I knew it was right. I stamped it with Memento 'Grey Flannel and used Pro markers to colour it.
When I had the card put together I realised how poignant it really was. The ship sailing from the shore fits the sentiment beautifully.

The lacy die cut is Spellbinders Elegant labels 4 and I also used them for the sentiment by trimming down the back one. I added the silver corners to balance and frame the card.  I hope you are inspired to have a go and join in with our challenge  HERE .
Have a happy day and treat each day as a New Beginning.
Hugs, Kay. XX

Quilt Inspired

A quick post of a card inspired by quilting.
I am entering it in Get Inky! challenge.
I have used 4 different patterned papers. Two are printed and two are stamped, cut into segments and faux stitched.
The large lace circle was cut with a WeR Memory Keepers punch and the center is a Spellbinders die. I stamped the pattern in the center and added gems.

I really enjoyed the challenge of putting it together and I hope you like it.

New Year - New Challenge Blog

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and that you will have a great 2014. One of my resolutions is to be more organised in the coming year. With that in mind  when I was asked to join the Design Team at a new challenge blog called  the Christmas Fun Challenge Blog I was delighted.

As I have to make a Christmas card every month for it I have decided to make at least 5 the same or similar so that when it comes next Christmas I have a head start on my cards and other bits and pieces
Below is my card for the 'Anything Goes' theme for January. I hope that you will join in. We have a great Design Team and there will be lots of ideas. So I challenge you to get crafting  for next Christmas.

Here is my card :-

It is quite a simple card. I scored an A4 card in half and cut an embossed piece of card for the background. I edged it with a matching promarker to make it stand out.
I added lace and a piece of patterned card (I had no matching ribbon).
The topper is from Lilli of the Valley and the sentiment from my stash. They are matted and layered on to silver mirri card and I added silver corner peel offs to bring balance to the overall card. I hope you like it.
