A quick post

Hi All,
just a quick post today. I made a couple of cards recently for a lady who was very thankful to a few people who looked after her husband and herself.

The backing card is Hunkydory.
The topper is from Le Suh.

Backing card is Hunkydory
Topper is from Hunkydory Floral enchantment collection.
Ribbon, doily, flowers etc from stash.
This card was inspired by a card Yvonne tune sent me in a swap.
I loved the colours and the way she put the flowers together.

It's a quiet day here today and I'm finding it hard to motivate myself. I will do a little bit of tidying up in the craft room and then a little bit of dabbling in my crafty stash and see what I can come up with,
Enjoy the day yourselves and be thankful.

Back to school day

Well here I am again after unintentionally taking the summer off. I'm not making any promises after reneging on the last one but I will do my best to write here as often as I can.
I love this time of the year, I'm not sure why. I loved school and learning so maybe that is it and when it is still warm but with a little autumnal nip in the air it stirs something in me and its time to start something new or just to be creative again.
I have completed a few things over the summer and have also moved into my daughters room as my craft room. She is now in her brothers old room, so we had a flurry of painting and decorating and moving of stuff ( All mine being dumped into her room so that she could move as quickly as possible). Everything is on top of each other and I reckon I could fill two rooms. I cannot show any pictures yet as I have the moving in photos but not the sorted out ones yet.
Yvonne Here now has a fantastic space in her attic. I have an 8ft x 11ft room so it will take me some time to get it sorted.
I do have a new desk and chair and lots of bits and pieces that my family put together for me as a present for a big birthday I celebrated in July. It was a total surprise and is very much appreciated.
So after all that here are a few pics of cards that I made over the summer. I won't put them all up now just a few to show you what I've been up to.
Hugs,
Kay

Sunday Sunshine

Hi and a happy sunny Sunday to everyone.
It's a while since I blogged. The days pass so quickly and it's finding the time to sit down and write and to edit photos. I will endeavour to do better from this one :-)

Two weeks ago i did a parchment weekend with Karen Shaw in Ballycary in Northern Ireland. It was an inspiring workshop and Karen is an excellent tutor. I learned so much and met some wonderful people.
The cat we did in pencil starting with the eyes and nose. Then we started with a stripe from above the eyes to the top of his head and continued working the fur in our chosen colours from there. All the cats looked different but in similar colours when we were finished.
Then we worked the frame and added the gold ink and voila ........Here is my finished project.

I will admit I had to redo the frame when I got home as I got lost in all the dots in one corner when I was in the classroom. and I wasn't able to save it. But I did all the different bits and pieces and was able to do it from scratch when I got home.

Good night everyone, I hope you had a great Saturday wherever you live.
Just a short post tonight as I spent all day at a card class and I'm ready for bed now.
This little card is made from white hammer card,a punched lace trim,
some paper from my stash matted and layered onto contrasting card stock
and a lovely little bird topper (It's a wren) from Kanban..
I'm not sure if  you can still get them as Kanban has ceased trading.
Of course you can always use a topper of choice and match the colours.
I hope you like it. I do:-)

Well, Happy days,I'm away to bed.
Hugs,
Kay XX.

A simple card.

Hi everyone,
I have just made a card for the challenge over at Addicted to CAS. You can find the challenge  HERE
It's quite a challenge for me as I mostly embellish quite a bit. However I really liked just keeping it simple and enjoyed the process.
I used a white hammer card and a dark royal blue to matt and layer. I used silver linen card under the topper as it framed it nicely against the white card.
The flowers are hand drawn on vellum, embossed and cut out. I finished it with a white gel pen and a greeting. Part of me wants to add gems but I resisted :-)

I'll have to try some more similar cards. Wouldn't they make lovely notelets. You can use any flower, butterfly or any stamp for the center.

Have a lovely day,
Kay.XX

Decisions, Decisions.

A very good Monday morning to you all.
I need some guidance today. I have made a card from bits and pieces, a doily folded to make an oval and handmade parchment flowers and leaves. I embellished it with a corner die from Joy Crafts.  What I want to know is.....should I add the corners onto the sides as shown in the second photo? They both work but I cannot decide what to do.

More Cards

Here are some cards that I missed to put on yesterdays post.
The first one is for a boy who loves his local Gaelic football team.

I added the names to this wedding card afterwards.
It has an acetate front.

I tried out some white embossing powder on this lovely purple card but when I heated it it went kinda clear. It was of course WOW embossing powder-clear hologram sparkle and it's lovely. Its hard to get the sparkle in the photo but I did my best.

I used a Kanban topper and sentiment and flowers to compliment.

"If Friends were flowers I'd pick you"
Below you can see the embossed detail in the corner and a little of the sparkle.
