Christmas cakes and Chocolate Puddings

Only 2 sleeps to go and it will be Christmas Day.....that's if I get much sleep on Christmas eve.
I'm reasonably organised and looking forward to having the family together.
It is my sons birthday today, hard to believe he is 24. We had a lovely day.
Anyway here are some photos of cakes I made and decorated.
Photos could be better but I'm not on my computer so I couldn't brighten them up.

Then there is the Chocolate biscuit cake ' Christmas Pud',
 complete with white chocolate 'custard'.
Decorated with fondant holly.
I'll put up the recipe soon.

Christmas is coming.

Hi Friends,
Its a cold and blustery evening here in Kilkenny. I wonder will we wake up to a white blanket snuggling up to the ground in the morning.
 Christmas is fast approaching and with it goes all the to-ing and fro-ing of preparation. I have some cards made but have to still have to make a few special ones. I'm just putting up the batch that I put together first. I made 24 cards, 12 of each design.

Here they are with the glitter glue drying. I printed out two of my favourite christmas toppers, then I matted and layered them with some gold mirri card and added the greetings. I also put inserts into them.
I hope everybody's plans for Christmas are progressing along nicely or are you like me and gather some bits and pieces up and make a dash around nearer to Christmas and it all comes together anyway.

Back Again.

Hi from a sunny Kilkenny,
I haven't posted for a while due to life happening around me. I've been up to lots of things and will tell you as I go along. I have made a card today and it is for a challenge on Emma's Cards .As the challenge was brown and blue it intrigued me and I wondered if I was up to the challenge. I was doing ok until I needed a ribbon and nothing I had matched so I made a ribbon out of blue light card and put old gold lace on it. I think it looks great.

Christmas Wishes

The card is made with light blue pearlescent card and the front is slightly shorter to show the brown insert.
It is stamped with a Woodware fern stamp with a brown ink.
The corners are shaped with a little punch.
The image is one from the internet.
The border on the left is from my stash and
The bow is made from blue card and an old gold lace over it.
The button is a Kanban snowflake from my stash and a coloured pearl in the centre.

I hope you like it and it inspires you.

Kay.

Happy August Monday

Happy Monday to everyone! I had a wonderful day yesterday visiting with my sisters and brother and their families. My Mother was also there. My sister has an annual bbq to celebrate and it was such a pleasant day. We didn't even mind the rain showers even when they were thundery. Now- don't think we sat out in the rain, we were under cover.
Our next get together will be in October when our dear Brother and his lovely fiancĂ©e get married. I predict a wonderful day of sunshine..............

Last Day of July

Where has the sunshine gone? Raining and foggy in Kilkenny  today. I'm not a sun worshipper but even I appreciate the sunshine this year. Sunny days are so few and far between.
I'm just posting some cards I have done recently and hope to have time to post more often in August as I am taking it easier...... maybe:-).

Exciting news

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Everyone,
I had a phonecall at the end of last week to say I had a place on a course that I had put in for.
It's called Train the Trainer and Appreciation of Arts and Crafts. I went to the introduction morning yesterday and I am looking forward to the course work. For Art and craft appreciation I have to pick a topic, research it and create a display board for it. I have so many ideas and crafts that I don't know what to pick   :-) Decisions- decisions.
Hugs, Kay
Summertime
Good morning (a wet one) to all,
I'm in a summery mood tho' and just made a card from free papers from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine
 The little beach huts caught my fancy. I used distress inks to colour the sky and sand and added a few seaguls.
The card measures 11cm by 16cm and was a piece left over from a fancy folded card.
Summer's here Card
I've just entered Yvonne's Card Challenge...Summer's Here.
Here is the card I entered.
The beach image and decoupaged ice cream are from Hunkydory.
The beach huts and sentiment is from the Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.
I made the kite from scraps.
The sandy card and mirri card are from my stash
and the butterfly is a Papermania gemstone peel off.
I loved making this card as it reminded me of my childhood and sundays spent at the beach.
We always got an ice cream in a little shop on the way home.
Those were the days.
Happy Sunshiny Sunday,
Happy Sunshiny Sunday everyone,
Its been a beautiful day here in the wilds of Kilkenny. So much nicer than yesterday which was like a March day.
I finally put my LOTV image on a card and here it is....
 I embellished her bouquet and hair band with Flowersoft and coloured in the ribbon with a matching promarker. I put Stickles on the hearts and the veil to enhance them. Then I added three little roses to compliment the colour scheme.
Here is a close up of the Flowersoft bouquet.
The inside back of the card needed a little weight to compensate for the front so I added extra card to match the front and put the greeting on that. I love it!
Parchment frame
This is the piece of grid work I started in Ann Quinn's class in An Grianan and just finished.
It is lovely on any colour and I love the owl print in the bottom photo. I have an idea of what I want to do with it and will post a pic when I have framed it.
A Wedding card
This is a wedding card I made for a customer who is a good friend.
The image is from Lili of the Valley but they don't make this size any more.I was lucky to find some on eBay
It is a twisted easel card with lace over a contrasting colour and a little posy of a matching rose with lace and a bow.
I put another card on the back of it so an insert could be put into it.
Blogging again
Hi All,
I'm back in the lands of the living again or should I say Blogging.
Its a beautiful day here in Kilkenny. The sun is shining and I'm enjoying it as I think there is more RAIN forecasted.
As I haven't written for a while I'll try to catch up with my self.
I went to An Grianan at the end of May for a parchment class taught by Ann Quinn and had a wonderful time. I met new friends and learned a wonderful craft. She is a marvellous teacher!!
Here is some of the work I did with her.
I also started a frame in grid work and will up load a photo when I take it.
A card for a dear friend
Confirmation Card
My modem is not connecting with my computer at the moment and I tried to upload from my daughters net book without success so.....
Here is a confirmation card I made last weekend.
 I did my first bit of embossing for it.
It takes a bit of practice but its great fun watching as the embossing powder melts.
 And another one..... slightly different
